It’s more instant, but I do miss that calm, focused way of watching news: Rajat Arora Featured Funtainment by Akanksha - April 5, 20260 Dhurandhar duology actor Rajat Arora misses the traditional TV bulletins that he would watch with his family earlier. He feels news consumption has changed drastically over the years and said, “Earlier, I remember watching news at a fixed time with family—it felt like a routine. Today, it’s more about quick updates on my phone throughout the day by apps like Inshorts.”“I still value detailed news, but with our fast-paced lives, I tend to consume news in smaller, more frequent doses now. It’s more instant, but I do miss that calm, focused way of watching news earlier,” he added. He stressed that earlier, news felt more structured and formal, while today it’s more immediate and expressive. He said, “I think both have their own strengths. The only thing that matters is that facts should remain facts, no matter how the format evolves.”Rajat feels this shift from scheduled news to on-demand content has made audiences more informed as well as overwhelmed. He said, “We definitely have more access to information now, which is great. But at the same time, there’s so much content coming in constantly that it can get overwhelming. It really depends on how we choose to consume it—being selective is the key today.”But he doesn’t rely on just one source for authentic news. He said, “If something catches my attention, I try to cross-check it with credible platforms or established news outlets. Also, over time you develop a sense of what feels authentic and what doesn’t. I think it’s important to pause and verify rather than react instantly.”He misses the credibility and depth of traditional news formats but likes the speed and accessibility of modern platforms. He said, “The depth and credibility of traditional formats are very important, but the speed and accessibility of today’s platforms are also something we can’t ignore. If we can combine both, that’s the best way forward.”Asked how he strikes a balance between staying informed and avoiding information fatigue, he said, “I try to be mindful of my consumption. I don’t follow every update throughout the day.”“I usually check news at specific times and then disconnect, especially when I’m working or spending time with family. It’s important to stay informed, but it’s equally important to protect your mental space,” Rajat ended.
