Zaan Khan, who is seen as Jahan in Alright! TV’s Dil Se Deewangi Tak, is enjoying playing a character that is quite different from the roles he has taken up earlier. The actor feels that Jahan has several layers and is not someone the audience can easily predict.

Talking about what made him take up the show, Zaan says, “When I got a call from Rusk Media, they told me about the show and explained that they had already done two seasons and were coming up with the third season. They approached me for Jahan. I met the team, my producer narrated the role to me and I really liked it. That is how I decided to do the show.”

For Zaan, one of the biggest attractions was the storyline and the way his character fits into it. The story revolves around two brothers and a girl who enters their lives, bringing love, conflict and several unexpected situations along with her. Zaan believes that the mix of relationships, drama and strong characters makes the show interesting.

Speaking about Jahan, he says, “Jahan is a very unpredictable character. He is someone I have never played before. He is royal and ruthless, and I really like the character.”

The actor also feels that the vertical format of the show makes it different from many other projects. According to him, the team has approached it more like a web show rather than treating it simply as short-form content. He adds that the format has a strong future because audiences today are spending a lot of their time consuming content on their phones.

“Every person is watching everything on the phone today. Even my father watches shows on his phone. I also watch things on my phone whenever I get time. We are busy during the day, so whether we are travelling or doing something else, the phone is always with us. That is why I feel the vertical format has a very bright future,” he shares.

Zaan is also happy with the people he is working with on the show. He says that his equation with his co-stars, including Vishal Aditya Singh and Pratik Sehajpal, has been very positive. For him, a good working environment comes from giving people the same respect and love that he expects from them.

“It has been a very good experience working with everyone. I believe in a simple thing — give respect and you will get respect, give love and you will get love. I just believe in being nice to everyone. There is no reason to make enemies,” says the actor.

While Jahan is a character with a strong and ruthless side, Zaan says that playing such roles is also an opportunity for him to show a different side of his acting. He enjoys exploring characters that allow him to move away from what audiences may already expect from him.

With Dil Se Deewangi Tak, Zaan is looking forward to seeing how audiences react to Jahan as the story moves ahead. The actor believes that there is a lot more to come and that viewers will get to see different shades of his character in the episodes ahead.

“I am really happy to be associated with this project. There are a lot of surprises coming, and I am looking forward to what happens next,” he says.
