Amal Sehrawat on Navratri: ‘The victory of good over evil begins within us’FeaturedFuntainment by Akanksha - October 14, 20260 Actor Amal Sehrawat, who has built a diverse career across television, music videos and the digital space, looks back at his association with the popular song Saiyyan as an important chapter in his journey from modelling to acting. Known for his roles as Jagga in Colors TV’s Choti Sarrdaarni and Sangram Singh in Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Amal has also been part of digital projects including Vikram Bhatt’s Untouchables, Habib Faisal’s Home and Apoorva Lakhia’s web series Crackdown. As Navratri is being celebrated, the actor believes that the festival is not just about rituals and festivities, but also about self-reflection, gratitude and staying connected to one’s values. For him, it is a reminder to overcome negativity, remain grounded and make time for family despite a busy professional life.Talking about what the victory of good over evil means to him in today’s world, Amal says, “For me, the victory of good over evil begins within us. It’s about fighting your own ego, negativity and fears, and choosing to do the right thing even when it isn’t the easiest thing to do. Life teaches you that you cannot control every situation or every person, but you can always control how you respond. I genuinely believe that if your intentions are honest and you stay grounded, goodness eventually finds its way.”The actor also feels that festivals have a special way of bringing back memories of home and childhood. For him, it is the simple moments spent with family that make these occasions memorable. “For me, festivals have always been about the feeling of being home. It’s the atmosphere, the prayers, the excitement, and most importantly, having your family around you. As we grow older and life gets busier, you realise that the simplest moments from childhood are often the most precious. Sometimes, even the sound of a prayer or the festive atmosphere is enough to take you back to those days when happiness meant being together with your loved ones,” he shares.Speaking about the traditions he would like to pass on to the next generation, Amal believes that children should understand the values behind festivals instead of following rituals without knowing their meaning. He says, “I would love to pass on the tradition of beginning these auspicious days with prayers, gratitude and respect for our elders. For me, festivals should not just be about rituals or celebrations; children should also understand the values behind them. I want the next generation to grow up appreciating our culture, respecting all forms of life and understanding that faith is as much about how you treat people as it is about what you pray for.”With the entertainment industry often demanding long working hours and keeping actors away from home, spending time with family becomes even more important. Amal admits that these moments help him stay connected to himself beyond his professional life. “Our industry can be extremely demanding, and work often takes you away from home. But over the years, I’ve realised that professional success means very little if you don’t make time for the people who matter most. Celebrating a festival with family gives you a sense of grounding. It reminds you who you are beyond your profession, your achievements and the roles you play on screen. For me, those moments of togetherness are priceless, and I try never to take them for granted,” he says.Apart from the festivities, Amal also believes in carrying the lessons of Navratri into everyday life. The actor makes time for meditation and feels that inner peace helps him deal with life’s challenges. “The lesson I try to carry with me is gratitude, along with the importance of keeping my mind and intentions pure. I make time for meditation in my everyday life, because I believe that inner peace helps you deal with the outside world with greater clarity. Navratri reminds me that strength doesn’t always mean being aggressive or proving a point. Sometimes, real strength lies in patience, humility, self-discipline and the ability to remain kind even when life tests you,” he concludes.Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Like this:Like Loading…Related
